Varina Rush
Founder and CEO
Varina was touched by Alzheimer’s when her grandfather John was diagnosed with Alzheimers. Her grandmother Ann was his caregiver, among others. She saw how Alzheimers affected her grandfather, grandmother and everyone around them. Varina has a strong commitment to the memory and elder care because it is a way that she honors her Grandfather and her Grandmother and she wants to provide the very best for someone else’s Grandparents.
Varina has been a teacher of meditative art at the Alzheimer’s Foundation’s Memory Cafe, the Caregivers Retreats that brings tools to caregivers, and for veterans with PTSD through Expedition Balance.
In addition she has a strong education in yoga, having been a practitioner for over eight years, she received her 200-hour teaching certificate in 2018 and certificates in additional training and on anatomy and biomechanics of the hips, shoulders and spine. She currently assists in workshops teaching these mechanics and hosts yoga and mindfulness retreats. She is also in training to teach Y12SR, which is a yoga program for those in recovery. She has completed Leadership Training and has been Leadership Coach since 2012. She has completed Reevaluation Counseling, Emotional Freedom Techniques and A Course in Miracles.
Varina believes that everyone is able to improve their quality of life at any age with breath, creativity, and connection.
Varina is happy to provide connection, nourishment, fun, and an amazing bond!
Allison Bond
Co-Founder and Vice-President
Allison has been touched personally by dementia. She witnessed her mother as a caregiver to her grandmother who had dementia the last years of her life. She understands the importance of self-care and respite caregivers need and how important connection and fun are to seniors.
Allison teaches yoga because she gets to be fully present with people and share exactly what they need to make a difference in their lives. She has 10 years’ experience teaching yoga to people of all ages. She battled with her own injuries to the hip, shoulder and scoliosis and this brought her to a deep study of anatomy and biomechanics for an informed yoga practice. She has received more than 1,500 hours of yoga teacher trainings and holds both E-RYT-500 and YACEP certificates. She teaches private lessons, public yoga classes, holds yoga retreats and has developed workshops to educate people who have hip, shoulder and spine injuries learn techniques to realign their bodies. In 2015 Allison co-developed a teacher training program and taught lectures in the areas of emotional health, teaching methodology and applied kinesiology. From 2014 - 2017 Allison was part of a project that researched in-school yoga programs in HISD. And her studies are ongoing.
In addition Allison has graduated from spiritual philosophy program and was ordained in 2017 and has completed and is now coaching a Leadership Training.
Allison believes everyone is able to improve their quality of life at any age and with any underlying condition. She is happy to provide connection, nourishment, fun, and an amazing bond!
